How to install windows 11 without TPM?

There was a lot of excitement and confusion following the announcement of the next-generation operating system. Users are confused about minimum hardware conditions for Windows 11 installation and by upgrading its documentation Microsoft has been trying to clarify the situation.

The “soft” and “hard” floor requirement, originally proposed by Microsoft, has been removed and all devices with TPM 1.2 and old PCs will be officially supported. Microsoft also has quietly updated its supporting documentation of Windows, which confirms that TPM 2.0 together with new CPUs is a minimum hardware requirement.

Besides the documents, officials from Microsoft have confirmed independently that Windows 11 on existing Windows 10 hardware needs to have a TPM chip version 2.0.

We have a solution regardless of whether you have version 2.0 of TPM or you have no TPM chip. You can overcome any TPM restriction by changing your Windows Registry or Installation media and unblock Windows 11 so that anybody can upgrade your existing machine to the new OS.

Alongside TPM, the SecureBoot restriction can be circumvented.

Override the Windows 11 TPM requirement with Registry Edit
On non-supporting devices, you will get a message on your screen saying that the computer is not compatible when you try to install the new OS: “This PC can’t run Windows 11.”..

Thankfully, during the installation process of the new operating system, you can remove the error and override the requirement simply by editing Windows Registry.

When you install Windows 11, use these steps to bypass TPM 2.0 requirements:

  1. Creates your own Windows 11 media setup. You can do that by creating a disc image (ISO) from the image of the UUP manually. Or the official release of the ISO can be expected.
  2. Begin the Windows 11 installation process.
  3. Click the Next button.
  4. When requested, select region, language and time. These settings can be changed later.
  5. Press the button Install now

6. Click on the option I don’t have a key product to continue if your device is already activated.

7.Click Next. Click Next.

8.Choose the Windows edition. Windows won’t activate if you select the wrong edition if the OS is installed on the existing device.

9.Click Next. Click Next.

10.Choose the option I accept and click next.

11.Choose Custom: Windows only install (Advanced)

12.You can now see a message above that the PC cannot execute Windows 11 on the Windows installation screen.

13.To open the Command Prompt window, press Shift+F10 on this screen. Start the registry editor by using Command Prompt to edit the registry.

14.Type regedit.exe into Command Prompt to launch the editor.

15.Under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup create a new key for “LabConfig.”

16.Right-click the Setup key to do this and select New > Key.

17.Enter and press Type LabConfig.

18.Click LabConfig key with a right click.

19.Choose New > 32-bit value of DWORD.

20.BypassTPMCheck and BypassSecureBootCheck can be created for two values. Set the value of your DWORD32 to 1.

21.Enter the press.

22.Close the Editor of the Registry.

23.Type out of or close the window of Command Prompt.

24.If this PC says still “Can’t run Windows 11,” you can press the back button in the Windows installation setup.

25.Terms and conditions are accepted.

26.Choose Custom: Install the advanced Windows only option and configure the current installation partition.

27.Click Next. Click Next.

When these steps are completed, Windows 11 is installed on your computer and all but those security features function: device encryption, vTPM in Hyper-V and every service related to TPM.

You can also create a.reg file with the following code lines if you don’t want to manually make registry edits:

[HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\SetupLabConfig] Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 Version 6. “BypassTPMCheck”=dword:00000001 “BypassSecureBootCheck”=dword:00000001

Save this (.reg) file to a USB drive and install Windows 11 cleanly. Press Shift + F10 and type notepad and press Enter. During the installation process.

Open the file menu, find and implement the reg file in the Notepad. This bypasses the requirements of TPM+SecureBoot.

By changing installation media, bypass TPM on Windows 11
The second way is to change the ISO file. There is another simple workaround, if you want to upgrade your OS by running the setup.exe from the Windows 11 media image.

Use the following steps to install Windows 11 without TPM 2.0:

  1. Replace the appraiserres.dll file with the Windows 10 ISO version of the source folder of your installation media.
  2. Use third-party tools such as Rufus, UltraISO or AnyBurn to recreate an ISO image.
  3. Run the file again. Run the file.

You can always use Windows ADK to automate the process and create your own ISO if you want the new OS on multiple machines for a clean installation.

It’s important to note that these workarounds have been tested with the Windows preview build and can work or not on later this year or early next year when the OS releases. For the time being, it seems that changes to the default installation process can overcome these constraints.
